It is one of the smallest countries in Europe, which has about 2 million inhabitants living in green areas and in successful cultural towns. Most of its inhabitants are Roman Catholics and even more than 30 other religious groups have appeared. Euro (€) is a Slovenian currency since 2007. In some border areas Hungarian and Italian are spoken. The Italian community at the coast and the Hungarian community in northeast are considered autochthonous. Slovenia is a green country since the woods cover half of the country. Kranj


Kranj is the fourth biggest city in Slovenia with about 37,999 inhabitants. It is located 20 kilometres northwest of Ljubljana. The municipality of Kranj is the centre of the Gorenjska region (the region in the northwest of Slovenia). It is mostly an industrial city.

In the city centre, which is closed for traffic, one can feel the affection for the cultural heritage and the most significant Slovene poet France Prešeren, who was also the author of Slovene national anthem. Kranj is located above the 30-metre-deep canyon. On the bridge over the Kokra river it is possible to be in the city and the nature at the same time.
